Important notes: BMO Stadium in Los Angeles (home of LAFC) is a completely different venue from BMO Field in Toronto (home of Toronto FC) — the two have different bag policies. BMO Stadium’s official page explicitly states non-clear bags, including small clutches, are not allowed, which is stricter than the small-clutch exception found at many comparable stadiums (including BMO Field).
How We Check This Policy: At BagPolicyInfo, we pull bag rules directly from BMO Stadium’s own official Clear Bag Policy page, and we specifically flag that this is a different venue from the similarly-named BMO Field in Toronto — several third-party sources blend details from both, but the two stadiums have meaningfully different rules, particularly around small clutches under the bmo stadium bag policy.
Official BMO Stadium Bag Policy Overview
BMO Stadium has a Clear Bag Only Policy to provide a safer environment for fans and expedite gate entry under the bmo stadium bag policy. The policy affects the type and size of bags permitted, not individual items like keys, makeup, combs, phones, or wallets, which can be carried without a bag. Guests may openly carry a blanket or jacket, subject to search. Fans must bring one bag that is clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and does not exceed 12″ × 6″ × 12″, or a one-gallon clear plastic storage bag (Ziploc or similar) under the bmo stadium clear bag policy. Non-clear bags, including small clutches, are not allowed. Exceptions are made for medically necessary items after proper inspection and BMO Stadium Management approval under the bmo stadium lafc bag policy.
What Makes This BMO Stadium Policy Different
BMO Stadium’s policy is notably stricter than the standard NFL/MLS clear-bag template most fans are familiar with: nearly every comparable venue carves out an exception for a small non-clear clutch (typically around 4.5″ × 6.5″), but BMO Stadium explicitly states this is not the case here — non-clear bags of any size, including small clutches, are not allowed under the bmo stadium bag policy. This makes BMO Stadium one of the most rigid clear-bag venues in professional sports, since there is no non-clear fallback option beyond loose items in your pockets. It’s also worth noting this is a distinct venue from BMO Field in Toronto, which does allow a small non-clear clutch — don’t assume the two share identical rules just because of the similar name.
Allowed Bags and Size Limits Under BMO Stadium Bag Policy
Review the permitted bag styles before heading to an LAFC soccer match or live event in Exposition Park:
| Bag Category | Gate Status | Max Dimensions | Rules & Screening Guidelines |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clear Tote Bags | Allowed | 12″ × 6″ × 12″ | Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC; 1 bag per guest |
| Plastic Freezer Bags | Allowed | 1 Gallon | Clear resealable Ziploc-style bag accepted |
| Clear Backpacks | Conditional | 12″ × 6″ × 12″ | Must be fully clear plastic/vinyl; no non-clear panels |
| Medical Equipment Bags | Conditional | Needs-based | Requires proper inspection & Management approval |
| Small Clutches & Wristlets | Prohibited | Any size | Non-clear clutches are strictly NOT allowed |
| Standard Backpacks & Purses | Prohibited | Any size | All opaque bags, purses, and backpacks banned |
Clear Bags
One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and does not exceed 12″ × 6″ × 12″ is the primary allowance under the bmo stadium clear bag policy. A one-gallon clear plastic storage bag (Ziploc or similar) is accepted as an alternative.
Small Clutches and Wallets
There is no small clutch exception at BMO Stadium. Non-clear bags of any size, including small clutches, are explicitly not allowed — items like a wallet or phone should be carried loose in your pockets rather than in a small opaque bag under the bmo stadium bag policy.
Backpacks, Purses, and Crossbody Bags
Standard non-clear backpacks and purses are not permitted. A backpack would need to be fully clear and within 12″ × 6″ × 12″ to meet the policy, since there is no separate backpack allowance beyond the standard clear bag rule under the bmo stadium lafc bag policy.
Diaper, Medical, and ADA Exceptions
Exceptions are made specifically for medically necessary items after proper inspection and BMO Stadium Management approval. Diaper bags are not named as a separate exception category in the official policy — guests should plan to meet the standard clear bag requirement or seek approval through the medical exception process if applicable.
Prohibited Bags and Items
The following bags are strictly prohibited from entering BMO Stadium:
- Non-clear bags of any size, including small clutches and wristlets
- Standard non-clear backpacks and knapsacks
- Non-clear purses, handbags, and crossbody bags
- Any bag exceeding 12″ × 6″ × 12″ that is not part of an approved medical exception under the bmo stadium bag policy
How Security Screening Works
Blankets and jackets carried openly into BMO Stadium are subject to being searched, same as any bag. Medical exceptions require proper inspection and specific approval from BMO Stadium Management, rather than a blanket automatic pass — guests with a genuine medical need should expect this to be a documented process at the gate under the bmo stadium lafc bag policy.
Packing Strategy for Faster Entry
- Bring an approved clear bag: Bring a clear 12″ × 6″ × 12″ bag or a 1-gallon clear plastic storage bag — this is essentially your only bag option under the bmo stadium clear bag policy.
- Carry small essentials loose: Carry loose items (wallet, phone, keys, makeup) in your pockets rather than in a small non-clear clutch, since that exception doesn’t exist here.
- Coordinate medical exceptions in advance: If you have a genuine medical necessity, seek approval and proper inspection in advance rather than assuming you can bring an opaque bag through unannounced.
- Skip standard backpacks: Skip backpacks entirely unless they’re 100% clear plastic and within the standard size limit.
- Carry jackets openly: If you want to bring a blanket or jacket, carry it openly over your arm rather than inside a bag, since it’s allowed but subject to search either way.
- Verify the right venue: Don’t assume rules from BMO Field in Toronto apply here — confirm you’re checking BMO Stadium’s (Los Angeles) specific policy.
Security Check Anxiety Tips
If security screening makes you anxious, knowing that BMO Stadium’s policy is strictly clear-bag-only, with no small-clutch workaround, removes any ambiguity — either your bag is clear and within 12″ × 6″ × 12″, or it isn’t allowed under the bmo stadium bag policy. Since loose items like a wallet or phone don’t require a bag at all, planning to carry those in your pockets sidesteps the bag question entirely. If you need the medical exception, securing approval in advance rather than hoping for one at the gate gives you a much smoother path into the match.
Day-of Entry Tips From BagPolicyInfo
- No clutch exception here: Unlike most comparable stadiums, even a tiny non-clear bag isn’t allowed under the bmo stadium bag policy.
- This is BMO Stadium, not BMO Field: Los Angeles (LAFC) and Toronto (Toronto FC) are different venues with different rules.
- Loose items are fine without a bag: Keys, phones, wallets, and makeup can be carried without needing a bag at all.
- Medical exceptions need approval: This isn’t automatic — proper inspection and BMO Stadium Management sign-off are required.
- Blankets and jackets can be carried openly: No bag needed, but still subject to security inspection.
Category-Specific Packing Tips
LAFC match attendees: A clear 12″ × 6″ × 12″ bag or a 1-gallon clear freezer bag is your standard option — plan to carry small essentials loose rather than in a clutch under the bmo stadium lafc bag policy.
Concertgoers: The same Clear Bag Only Policy applies across entertainment events at BMO Stadium, so pack the same way for a concert as for an LAFC match.
Guests with medical needs: Seek proper inspection and BMO Stadium Management approval in advance for a medical bag exception, rather than assuming it’ll be granted at the gate.
