Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Policy 2026 | Clear Bag Rules
Heading to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for a Falcons game, Atlanta United match, or concert? The venue enforces a strict clear bag policy, and one detail trips up more fans than any other: diaper bags here have to be clear too, not just “allowed after inspection” like at many other stadiums. Here’s everything you need to know under the official mercedes-benz stadium bag policy.
Quick Answer: Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Policy at a Glance
Under the official mercedes-benz stadium bag policy, if a bag is necessary, it must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12″ × 6″ × 12″. A small non-clear clutch up to 4.5″ × 6.5″ is also permitted under the mercedes-benz stadium bag size limit. How We Check This Policy: At BagPolicyInfo, we pull bag rules directly from the venue’s official A-Z Guide and Fan Guidelines pages, and where third-party sources disagree with each other (as they do here on whether clear backpacks are permitted), we default to the language closest to the official site rather than picking whichever claim is more common.
Official Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Policy Overview
If a bag is necessary, it must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12″ × 6″ × 12″ (30.5 × 15.25 × 30.5 cm) under the mercedes-benz stadium bag policy. Any non-clear bag exceeding 4.5″ × 6.5″ in size will not be permitted. Diaper bags must be clear and comply with the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Clear Bag Policy — clear diaper bags that meet the size specifications and accompany a child are permitted but subject to search. Baby and infant care items like bottled formula and small snacks must also be carried in a clear bag meeting the policy guidelines under the mercedes-benz stadium bag size limit. Camera bags and cases accompanying any permitted personal device must likewise meet the clear bag policy specifications or will be denied entry.
What Makes This Mercedes-Benz Stadium Policy Different
Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s core size limits (12″×6″×12″ clear, 4.5″×6.5″ clutch) follow the standard NFL Clear Bag Policy structure, but the venue is unusually strict about extending the clarity requirement to diaper bags and camera bags specifically — many other stadiums grant these categories a blanket exception regardless of clarity, while Mercedes-Benz Stadium requires them to be clear and within the standard dimensions just like any other bag. This is a meaningful departure from venues like Citizens Bank Park or PNC Park, where diaper bags get a more straightforward pass.
Allowed Bags and Size Limits Under Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Policy
Review the permitted bag types and size limits before arriving under the mercedes-benz stadium clear bag policy:
| Bag Category | Gate Status | Max Dimensions | Screening & Material Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clear Totes & Bags | Allowed | 12″ × 6″ × 12″ | Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC; 1 bag per person |
| 1-Gallon Freezer Bags | Allowed | 1 Gallon (Ziploc style) | Clear, resealable freezer bag; 1 per person |
| Small Clutches & Wallets | Allowed | 4.5″ × 6.5″ | Non-clear permitted; with or without strap |
| Clear Backpacks | Conditional | 12″ × 6″ × 12″ | Must be completely clear; within size limits |
| Clear Diaper Bags | Conditional | 12″ × 6″ × 12″ | Must be clear; must accompany a child |
| Medically Necessary Bags | Allowed | Needs-based | Exempt from clear-bag rule after security inspection |
| Non-Clear Backpacks | Prohibited | Any size | Opaque backpacks strictly banned |
Clear Bags
Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12″ × 6″ × 12″. A standard one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag is also accepted as a simpler alternative under the mercedes-benz stadium clear bag policy.
Small Clutches and Wallets
A small non-clear clutch or purse no larger than 4.5″ × 6.5″ is permitted, with or without a strap.
Backpacks, Purses, and Crossbody Bags
Non-clear backpacks are not permitted. A backpack that is fully clear and within the 12″ × 6″ × 12″ dimensions is treated the same as any other compliant clear bag under the stadium’s specifications under the mercedes-benz stadium bag policy.
Diaper, Medical, and ADA Exceptions
Diaper bags must be clear and comply with the standard Clear Bag Policy dimensions to accompany a child — an opaque diaper bag doesn’t qualify here. Medically necessary items are exempt from the clear-bag requirement after inspection. Baby and infant items like formula and snacks must still be carried in a clear bag meeting the policy guidelines.
Prohibited Bags and Items Under Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Rules
- Non-clear backpacks of any style or size
- Diaper bags that aren’t clear
- Camera bags or cases that don’t meet clear bag policy specifications
- Non-clear bags exceeding 4.5″ × 6.5″
- Chairs, booster seats, stools, or other seating devices
- Bottles, cans, glass, and other beverage containers
- Cameras with lenses longer than 6″, detachable or not
How Security Screening Works at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
All bags are subject to search upon entry, and diaper bags specifically are checked for both clarity and compliance with the standard size dimensions, not just inspected for contents under the mercedes-benz stadium bag size limit. Camera bags and cases are held to the same clear-bag specification as any general-purpose bag. Devices deemed suspicious by stadium security, in its sole discretion, are prohibited regardless of what category they might otherwise fall into.
Packing Strategy for Faster Entry
- Default to a clear 12″×6″×12″ bag: Or a 1-gallon clear freezer bag — this covers general essentials, diaper needs, and camera equipment alike under the mercedes-benz stadium bag policy.
- Pack infant care items into clear bags: If you’re bringing infant items like formula or snacks, pack them into a clear bag meeting the standard dimensions rather than a traditional diaper bag.
- Use a clutch for essentials: If you’d rather not carry a clear bag, a small non-clear clutch under 4.5″ × 6.5″ is your other compliant option.
- Skip non-clear backpacks entirely: Only a fully clear backpack within 12″ × 6″ × 12″ is treated as compliant.
- Check camera gear dimensions: Bring cameras with lenses no longer than 6 inches, and pack any camera bag or case so it meets the clear bag specifications too.
- Check event-specific guidelines: Check your specific event’s page before a concert, since policies can be adjusted per event.
Security Check Anxiety Tips
If security lines add stress, knowing upfront that diaper bags need to be clear here — not just any diaper bag — helps you avoid the disappointment of being turned away with a standard opaque one. Packing formula, snacks, and other infant items into a compliant clear bag from the start means one less thing to sort out at the gate. Since the stadium’s clear-bag requirement extends to camera bags too, checking your gear against the same 12″ × 6″ × 12″ standard before you leave removes another potential surprise.
Day-of Entry Tips From BagPolicyInfo
- Diaper bags must be clear here: This is stricter than many other stadiums — a standard opaque diaper bag won’t pass under the mercedes-benz stadium bag policy.
- Camera bags need to comply too: Not just cameras themselves, but the bags and cases carrying them.
- Clear backpacks are treated as compliant: As long as they’re fully clear and within 12″ × 6″ × 12″.
- “Clear” means genuinely clear: Tinted bags, obscuring hardware, and large logos blocking the view inside can all be turned away.
- Rules can shift by event: Check your specific event’s page, especially around major bookings like the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Category-Specific Packing Tips

Parents with infants: Repack diaper bag essentials — formula, snacks, supplies — into a clear bag meeting the standard dimensions, since a traditional diaper bag doesn’t qualify on its own.
Photography enthusiasts: Keep camera lenses to 6 inches or shorter, and make sure any camera bag or case is also clear and within the standard size under the mercedes-benz stadium bag size limit.
