Official Policy Verification & Source Check
Official policy source: Moody Center official Arena Guide page (moodycenteratx.com)
Source type: Official venue website
Last checked: September 2026
Confidence level: High
Important notes: Several third-party guides cite a smaller 4.5″ × 6.5″ clutch limit, but the venue’s own official Arena Guide states 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ for non-clear clutches — we go with the official figure. Enforcement can vary somewhat by gate staff, so sticking strictly to the published dimensions is the safest approach.
How We Check This Policy: At BagPolicyInfo, we prioritize a venue’s own official Arena Guide over third-party aggregators when figures conflict, since bag policy details commonly go stale on secondhand sites. We cross-reference the clear bag and clutch dimensions directly against the official page rather than defaulting to whichever number appears most often elsewhere.
Official Moody Center Bag Policy Overview
Moody Center’s Clear Bag Policy states that, if necessary, guests are permitted to bring one clear bag that does not exceed 14″ × 14″ × 6″, or one non-clear small clutch, purse, or wallet that does not exceed 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ under the moody center bag policy. The venue explicitly requests that guests avoid bringing a bag at all if possible. Backpacks, duffle bags, camera cases, binocular cases, grocery totes, mesh bags, and straw bags are all prohibited. There’s no on-site bag check, so any noncompliant bag needs to go back to your vehicle. Moody Center is also a cashless facility, accepting Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all major credit cards.
What Makes This Moody Center Policy Different
Moody Center’s official clear bag allowance (14″ × 14″ × 6″) and clutch allowance (5″ × 9″ × 1.5″) are both somewhat more generous than the smaller figures (12″ × 12″ × 6″ and 4.5″ × 6.5″) that circulate on several third-party sites — worth knowing if you’ve encountered conflicting numbers while researching. The venue is also unusually strict about diaper bags specifically: rather than offering a blanket exception like many other arenas, standard diaper bags are prohibited outright, and supplies need to be transferred into a compliant clear bag instead. Moody Center’s mobile-only ticketing policy is also stricter than many venues — printouts and screenshots are explicitly rejected, not just discouraged.
Allowed Bags and Size Limits Under Moody Center Bag Policy
To ensure you know what bags are allowed at concerts and Texas Longhorns games in Austin, review this side-by-side comparison table before heading out under the official moody center austin bag size rules:

| Grocery Totes, Mesh & Straw Bags | Prohibited | Any size | Strictly banned from entry |
Clear Bags
One clear bag not exceeding 14″ × 14″ × 6″ is permitted, per the official Arena Guide under the moody center clear bag policy. A one-gallon clear resealable plastic storage bag also works as a simpler alternative to a dedicated clear tote.
Small Clutches and Wallets
One non-clear small clutch, purse, or wallet not exceeding 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ is allowed, giving a bit more room than the tighter clutch limits found at some comparable arenas.
Backpacks, Purses, and Crossbody Bags
Backpacks and duffle bags are not permitted under any circumstances under the moody center bag policy. Standard purses exceeding the clutch dimensions, along with grocery totes, mesh bags, and straw bags, are also prohibited.
Diaper, Medical, and ADA Exceptions
Standard diaper bags are not permitted as their own category — items need to be transferred into an approved clear bag instead. The official guide doesn’t spell out a specific medical bag exception either, so keeping medical items within your clear bag or clutch is the safest bet.
Prohibited Bags and Items Under Moody Center Bag Rules
In addition to non-compliant bags, the following items are strictly banned from entry:
- Backpacks & Duffles: Backpacks and duffle bags of any size or material
- Specialty Cases: Camera cases, binocular cases, and computer bags
- Non-Approved Bags: Grocery totes, mesh bags, and straw bags
- Standalone Diaper Bags: Standard diaper bags (transfer contents to an approved clear bag instead)
- Bottles & Cans: Bottles or cans of any kind, material, or size, whether empty or full
- Laptops & Tablets: Laptops, personal computers, and electronic tablets
- Weapons & Noise Devices: Weapons, noisemaking devices, and unauthorized audio/video recording equipment
How Security Screening Works at Moody Center
All bags, including clear bags and clutch purses, are subject to search at the gates under the moody center bag policy. Since there’s no on-site bag check, arriving with a genuinely compliant bag is the only way to avoid a return trip to your car. Moody Center also enforces a mobile-ticket-only entry policy — printouts or screenshots will not work — so guests need their ticket loaded into the Moody Center app, Ticketmaster app, or a mobile wallet before reaching the gate.
Packing Strategy for Faster Entry
- Skip the bag if possible: Consider skipping a bag entirely, since the venue explicitly prefers guests not bring one.
- Choose a compliant clear bag: If you need a bag, default to a clear 14″ × 14″ × 6″ tote or a 1-gallon clear freezer bag.
- Keep clutches compact: If you’d rather use a clutch, keep it non-clear and under 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ to satisfy the moody center austin bag size limits.
- Repack diaper supplies: Transfer any diaper supplies into your clear bag rather than bringing a separate diaper bag.
- Skip backpacks and cases: Skip backpacks, duffle bags, and camera cases entirely, since none of these are permitted regardless of size.
- Load mobile tickets early: Load your ticket into a mobile wallet or the Moody Center/Ticketmaster app in advance, since screenshots won’t scan.
Security Check Anxiety Tips
If security lines add stress, arriving with a genuinely compliant clear bag or small clutch — measured against the official 14″ × 14″ × 6″ and 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ figures rather than smaller numbers you may have seen elsewhere — removes a lot of uncertainty, especially since there’s no storage fallback here. Having your mobile ticket ready ahead of time also means one less thing to sort out once you’re in line. Since enforcement can vary somewhat by staff, sticking strictly to the published dimensions gives you the best chance of a smooth entry regardless of who’s checking.
Day-of Entry Tips From BagPolicyInfo
- Trust the official dimensions: 14″ × 14″ × 6″ for clear bags and 5″ × 9″ × 1.5″ for clutches, straight from Moody Center’s own Arena Guide.
- Diaper bags need a workaround: Transfer supplies into a compliant clear bag rather than bringing a standalone diaper bag.
- No storage backup exists: A noncompliant bag has to go back to your car, so don’t gamble on a borderline size.
- Mobile tickets only: Printouts and screenshots won’t scan — use a mobile wallet or the venue’s app.
- Skip the bag if you can: The venue explicitly prefers guests travel without one when possible.
Category-Specific Packing Tips
Concertgoers: Check for any tour-specific restrictions, since some artists may request stricter limits than the standard venue policy, particularly around photography and recording equipment.
Texas Longhorns fans: The standard clear bag or clutch rule applies the same way to sporting events as it does to concerts — pack accordingly regardless of event type.
Parents with infants: Since there’s no standalone diaper bag exception, plan to fit supplies into a compliant clear bag rather than a separate diaper bag.
